Abstract

The oloid is a captivating geometric shape that has piqued the interest of mathematicians, artists, and enthusiasts alike. Its unique design and mesmerizing movement make it a subject of intrigue and exploration. In recent years, the field of robotics has witnessed tremendous advancements. One exciting development is the emergence of oloid-shaped robo-platforms, which are revolutionizing the way robots move and interact with their surroundings. Inspired by the unique mathematical shape known as an oloid, these robots are gaining popularity for their unparalleled mobility and dexterity. The oloid shape is a geometric form consisting of two identical linked circles that rotate along perpendicular axes. While the oloid shape's mathematical properties have been studied extensively, its application in robotics is a relatively recent development. In this article, we will delve into the oloid's shape, its characteristics, and the fascinating way it moves.
